Ann Dunham believed in the power of human connection and the inherent dignity in all of us. She instilled those values in her children. And those values were the foundation that inspired a movement of hope and carried President Obama to the White House. That’s why we’re so proud to honor the life and legacy of Ann Dunham by making her name forever a part of the Obama Presidential Center experience.
The Water Garden will also include a stunning sculptural water feature from one of the President’s favorite artists, Maya Lin, who is best known for designing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Ann Dunham Water Garden will be a hallmark space for families to take a quiet moment for reflection or go for a splash through the water fountain. The special space will be surrounded by amphitheater-style seating great for poetry readings, informal performances, and special convenings. We’re excited for you to see it. Happy birthday, Mr. President!
