| Cameroon is often referred to as the cradle of African gastronomy, united by artistic and gastronomic richness. Our culinary diversity is thanks to geological, geographical and climatic differences from one end of the country to the other, exceptional, organic and quality agricultural production, as well as skilled professionals, craftsmen/women and culinary expertise in our homes. Original combinations of spices and ingredients have given rise to culinary delights that make Cameroonian gastronomy one of the most refined and organic on the continent. |

The people of Cameroon have therefore chosen the arts, gastronomy and tourism for their personal, social and economic development. The government have understood this and put into place a national development strategy – SND 2020 / 2030 with major projects such as: the labelling of 14 typical local dishes or the “Gastronomy Tourist'' project.
|
I am committed to the candidacy of the Littoral Region to become World Region of Gastronomy. This application will be an opportunity for the Littoral Region, and more generally Cameroon, to present to the world its cultural and artistic diversity, its gastronomic richness, the value and historical scope of the local dishes. Thanks to IGCAT it will be an opportunity to be recognised internationally as a food and arts tourism destination: Cameroon, gastronomy, arts and tourism.
