Check out highlights from my site tour and learn more about what we’re building. From day one, we’ve wanted to make sure the people building the Center reflect the community it’s in. That means building a pipeline of sustainable jobs for our neighbors, crafted by our neighbors. The majority of our construction workers come from diverse backgrounds—and more than half live in Chicago.
I’m grateful for their hard work and commitment to building a hub for the next generation of leaders. And I hope the Center will set a new bar for diversity standards and serve as a model for future projects in the city.
When it’s completed, the Center will be a home-grown institution where we inspire and empower people and communities to act on the biggest challenges of our time, give leaders the tools they need to effect change, and prepare young people to help change their world.
I hope you’ll take a minute to check out what I saw.—Barack
