Gender balance on corporate boards
EU social affairs ministers will discuss how to improve the gender balance in the boardroom.
Ministers will seek to agree on a general approach regarding the proposed directive on the gender balance on corporate boards.
Proposed new EU rules would help to achieve a more balanced representation between men and women.
European semester 2022
Ministers will review the annual European Semester, a cycle of economic, fiscal, labour and social policy coordination within the EU.
Ministers will discuss conclusions on annual sustainable growth with the aim to adopt these conclusions.
Ministers will also discuss the draft Joint Employment Report for 2022 with a view to adoption.
Tackling discrimination at work
Ministers will hold a policy debate on discrimination in employment.
EU equal treatment legislation sets out minimum levels of protection that apply to everyone living and working in the European Union.
Promoting active ageing in the workplace
Ministers will also hold a policy debate on how to encourage elderly people to remain in the workforce.
A culture of life-long learning and investment in the safety and security at work were two key factors to keep people in work. The EU strategic framework on health and safety at work highlights the need to adapt the working environment and conditions in order to prevent professional drop-out.
Other matters
Any other business will include information provided by the presidency on the upcoming Social Tripartite Summit. The work programmes of the employment committee and the social protection committee for 2022 will also be discussed by the respective presidencies.

The European Commission will provide information on several matters, such as:
- the EU anti-racism action plan
- the annual report on equality between women and men
- the action plan to boost the social economy
- the European pillar of social rights action plan
- the EU child guarantee
