President Obama first met three of the young men who are a part of this conversation when he participated in a Becoming a Man (BAM) roundtable nearly a decade ago. The President was deeply moved by the stories he heard from the young men, as well as by BAM’s success in reducing violence and increasing graduation rates. That conversation and the program’s impact inspired the creation of
My Brother’s Keeper and its mission to lift up programs like BAM all over the country who are making a real impact.
It was remarkable to see the impact President Obama had on the three young men he met eight years ago and to hear all five of them share so openly about the challenges they face and their hopes for the future.
I hope you’ll tune in for this powerful conversation.
