Understand the VA's Plan for Distributing Vaccines
Currently, the Department of Veterans Affairs has a limited supply of vaccines — priority is given to those who are currently receiving care and meet a specific age requirement or have certain underlying medical conditions. If you’re a Veteran who already receives care at VA, your local health facility will contact you when your risk group becomes eligible. You do not need to call or to visit the facility to reserve or request a vaccine. The staff will only provide vaccines to Veterans who are currently eligible based upon risk criteria.
The VA plans to offer a free COVID-19 vaccine to all Veterans receiving VA health care who want one. Sign up and stay informed with ongoing updates on VA’s vaccine plan. When more vaccines are available, they will determine when vaccines can be provided through their community provider network and will identify additional groups for vaccination.
