The Obama Foundation update

Hi there,

As someone who has been interested in the Obama Presidential Center from the very beginning, we wanted to share some exciting news with you. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re one step closer to bringing the Obama Presidential Center to the South Side of Chicago.

With the completion of a careful, multi-year federal regulatory review process, we plan to break ground on the Center in 2021.

Watch a special message from President Obama reflecting on this important milestone and sharing how the Center will help unlock the South Side’s fullest potential.

This project will be a catalyst for long-overdue investment in and around historic Jackson Park—creating a new destination to move visitors from hope to action, breathing new life into the park, and delivering amenities and economic benefits to the community the Obamas called home.

But we know we can’t do it alone. Today’s news would not have been possible without the many Chicagoans who have been a part of the process. That same spirit of collaboration will guide our efforts to fulfill the Obamas’ vision: a space for the community, built in partnership with the community.

Thank you for helping us reach this important milestone. We hope you’ll follow along and join our efforts to bring hope home.

P.S. You can tune in for a conversation with Michael Strautmanis, Obama Foundation Chief Engagement Officer, and Lori Healey, Obama Presidential Center Implementation Lead, on February 4 at 3:00pm CT to learn more about our progress and plans.
