GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that started in 2012 with the purpose of unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

On this GivingTuesday, AHEPA is launching the #AHEPAGivesBack campaign. For the entire month of December, we're encouraging our chapters to embody the spirit of GivingTuesday.

2020 has been a harder year than most. The global pandemic has impacted the lives of people and communities all around the world and many have found themselves in unprecedented situations. As always, the AHEPA family has stepped-up to help in this time of need. Our Brothers and Sisters have fully embodied the philanthropic nature of our Order by participating in the #AHEPACares program over the past year. Whether donating their money, food or time, AHEPA chapters have answered the call and have made their best efforts to make a difference.

This holiday season, we challenge you to do more.

See what your local communities need to make 2020 seem a little more normal, and if you can safely assist, go out and do it. Some suggestions as to how you can safely help your community during the pandemic:

  • Donate or Volunteer Safely with Food Banks and Pantries
  • Deliver Meals and Groceries to Vulnerable Seniors
  • With the elderly community being the most susceptible to COVID-19, it's important to help them be able to stay home and safe. If nobody in your Chapter is able to do in-person grocery shopping, consider helping get them setup with a grocery delivery service such as Instacart or Shipt.
  • Sponsor a local family who cannot afford holiday gifts
  • Many communities have an Angel Tree program in which people can buy gifts for children or families in need. If you have a local Children's Hospital, contact them to see how you can help make Christmas better for patients.
  • Give Blood
  • Blood donations are at an all time low and the need for them is at an all time high. Donate!
  • Donate Medical Supplies and Equipment
  • If your Chapter has the means, contact local hospitals and see what they're in need of, or what you can help provide.
  • Stay in Touch
  • It is especially important that we stay in touch with people during this Holiday season. Skip sending emails and take the time to call and talk to people you know that might be struggling with their mental health during these times.
  • Serve in Your Community
  • If you're not sure where to start, contact your state's Service Commission to see where help is needed.

Let us know what you're doing! If your chapter has a social media account, please use the hashtag #AHEPAGivesBack when posting pictures so we can highlight it and let everybody know what you're doing to help.

E-mail any pictures of your chapter to be highlighted on social media, with a brief explanation of what your chapter did and who your chapter helped to ahepasocial@gmail.com or stephanie@ahepa.org. We can't wait to hear from you!
