OBAMA's newest

Hi there,

From as early as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to give of myself to others.

I never thought I would become a pastor, but after experiencing the powerful ways faith can help people find peace amidst pain and reflecting on my passion to care for others, I knew the clergy was for me. Now, I give back to my South Side Chicago neighborhood, Englewood, the best way I know how: through prayer, community service, and keeping my loved ones safe from violence.

During a tough summer in Chicago, the Obama Foundation spent a month capturing my day-to-day life as a violence interrupter, pastor, and mom through photos, and ., I want you to see them.

A conversation with the Girls Opportunity Alliance Network

I’m heartened to know that I’m not alone in this work. Across the United States, there are brave men and women just like me who are risking their lives to stop gun violence before it begins, and investing in those who are most at risk of harm.

I hope you’ll take some time to hear from some of the powerful voices who are battling gun violence in our cities today, learn about the causes of this stubborn problem, and commit to doing your part to help end it.

It’s a privilege to see a community through the eyes of those who love it, and I hope these stories illuminate the ways we can work together to stop gun violence once and for all.
