Mitsotakis, Anastasiades in NYC for UN's 74th General Assembly

Prime Minister Mitsotakis of Greece and President Anastasiades of Cyprus are in New York for the proceeding of the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations from 23-27 of September and have important meetings with Secretary General Antonio Guterres and other leaders. Greece to adopt national policy on climate change, PM tells UN

Greece intends to convene a high-level conference in Athens next year on the protection of cultural and natural heritage from climate change, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told the United Nations Climate Change Summit in New York on Monday. read more
'Greece can be major force for Balkan stability,' says former US ambassador

The United States looks to Greece to "maintain stability" in the Eastern Mediterranean, former American ambassador to Greece Nicholas Burns tells Kathimerini in an interview. He adds that following the Prespes agreement, there are now no more obstacles blocking Greece from expanding its role in Southeastern Europe. On Monday, four children of an American and his Israeli wife killed by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas in 2015 filed suit against Turkey's Kuveyt Turk Bank in a New York court. They charge that the bank helps Hamas finance its terrorist attacks, allegations the firm is almost certain to deny. read more

The man credited with introducing high-end food, wine and hospitality from the islands of Greece to North America, Costas Spiliadis, first arrived in the United States from Greece in 1966, carrying two suitcases - one filled with clothing, the other books and records.
