Today marks the 104th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide.

"We join with the Armenian American community in remembrance of the 1.5 million Armenians who were brutally and systematically massacred by Ottomans during the Armenian Genocide, and we call for its proper and official recognition by the U.S. government," Supreme President George E. Loucas said. "We also remember all Christian minorities of the Ottoman Empire who were systematically murdered during this time period, including Greeks and Assyrians."

Speaking at the Capitol Hill Armenian Genocide Observance, U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis said, "Genocide must not be denied. It must be acknowledged for what it is-a scourge on humanity. Official recognition of the Armenian Genocide would represent a courageous new chapter in American foreign policy."
